The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from N699 per litre to N799 per litre, following the conclusion of the festive period.
As a result of the adjustment, MRS filling stations supplied by the refinery will now sell petrol at N839 per litre.
In a statement issued on Monday evening, the refinery explained that the price change was a modest realignment aimed at ensuring long-term market stability and affordability. It noted that the temporary price support introduced during the festive season had been withdrawn after serving its purpose of cushioning Nigerians amid heightened household spending.
“With the festive period concluded, PMS prices have been modestly realigned to sustainable levels to support long-term market stability and affordability. Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is N799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at N839 per litre,” the statement said.
The refinery recalled that it had implemented deliberate price support interventions during the recent festive season, marking the second consecutive period in which it absorbed high costs in the national interest. These interventions included logistics support in 2024 and a price reduction in 2025 to promote affordability and market calm.
However, it expressed concern that despite the price reduction, many filling stations failed to reflect the lower price at the pump, thereby denying Nigerians the full benefit of the intervention.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the refinery continues to supply the domestic market with about 50 million litres of PMS daily, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution are operating normally.
He noted that the refinery’s design flexibility allows it to process a wide range of crude and intermediate feedstocks, enabling sustained PMS supply even during planned maintenance activities. According to him, this ensures that domestic fuel supply remains stable and uninterrupted.
“As a domestic producer, Dangote Petroleum Refinery continues to shield the Nigerian market from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions, while remaining a stabilising force in the downstream petroleum sector,” the statement said.
The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to energy security, price stability and uninterrupted nationwide supply of petrol, stressing its focus on delivering long-term value to Nigerians.
