The Delta State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse with the arrest of a suspected drug baron and two female accomplices in Warri metropolis.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development, saying the operation was part of intensified efforts by the police to curb the circulation and abuse of hard drugs across the state.
According to him, the suspects, identified as Favor Isaac, 25, Favour Felix, 24, and Samson Precious, 19, were arrested following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug dealers operating within the Ogbomoro and Ugolo communities in Warri.
Edafe said operatives attached to the Area Command, Effurun, carried out a covert operation on May 7, 2026, at about 9:20 p.m., leading to the arrest of the suspects.
He explained that during the operation, police operatives executed a search warrant at the suspects’ hideout along River Road in Ogbomoro community, where various suspected illicit substances were recovered.
Items recovered from the scene included 21 bottles of CSC Codeine, two canisters containing Nitrous Oxide, popularly known as “laughing gas,” two packs of suspected psychoactive chewing gum branded “Highness Gum,” and 640 grams of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud concealed in different bags and containers.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that one Rukewe Tega Isaac, who is currently on the run, is believed to be the major supplier behind the drug network.
The command added that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect, as well as other members of the syndicate linked to the illicit drug operation.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state.
He warned that the widespread abuse and circulation of illicit drugs continue to fuel violent crimes, cultism, and other social vices among youths.
Oyeniyi also appealed to residents to continue supporting the police and other security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid the fight against criminal networks and substance abuse.
