The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over alleged cases of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.
The anti-graft agency published the wanted notice on its official platform on Saturday, listing the 52-year-old former minister among persons being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation.
According to the notice, Farouq, an indigene of Zamfara State, has her last known address as Maitama, Abuja.
In a statement signed by the commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the commission urged members of the public with useful information on her whereabouts to contact the agency immediately.
“The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds,” the notice stated.
The commission appealed to anyone with relevant information to report to any of its offices nationwide, including those in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja, or contact the nearest police station.
Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development between 2019 and 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Investigations into the allegations against her are ongoing.
