The Department of Homeland Security of the United States of America, USA, has released the identifies of 10 Nigerian nationals include in the so-called ‘Worst of the Worst’ list in the country.

The list included people who were convicted from various crimes ranging from child abuse, sex offence, identity theft, wire fraud and cruelty to animals, among others.

The list obtained by Naija Daily News from the DHS website, showed that it targeted immigrants as part of President Donald Trump’s plan to reduce immigration and immigrant considered to be driving crime in the country.

The DHS said its register is intended to spotlight immigrants arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) whom the agency considers among the “worst of the worst” criminal offenders.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said ICE officers had recently arrested people accused of serious crimes, including murder, sexual offences against children, kidnapping and other violent offences.

Mullin said the Trump administration would continue its immigration crackdown, including in sanctuary cities, and would not apologise for deporting immigrants who are in the country illegally.

DHS said the arrests formed part of the administration’s broader mass-deportation campaign, which it said was prioritising people it considers the most serious criminal threats.

The latest register follows a similar list published by DHS in July, which named 124 Nigerians arrested by ICE. Those individuals were linked to various criminal offences, but DHS did not disclose their specific deportation dates.
