Too much of every, they say, is bad, and that was why a 37-year-old Kaduna-based housewife, Mrs Linda Stephen, is seeking divorce due to her husband excessive sex urge.
Mrs Stephen, in a petition to a Kaduna Customary Court, is seeking divorce, citing her husband Felix Stephen’s relentless sexual demands and alleged physical abuse.
The couple, resident in Ungwan Sunday enclave of Port Harcourt, were said to be incessantly quarrelling over the husband’s high sex drive.
Mrs Stephen told the court she could no longer endure her husband’s insatiable need for intimacy, which she claimed often left her in distress.
“I can’t handle his excessive sexual urges anymore. Most nights, he forces himself on me from midnight until the early hours of the morning. Even when I cry, he doesn’t stop.”
Linda further alleged that Felix resorted to violence whenever she refused his advances, sometimes even in the presence of their two children. Unable to cope, she moved out of their home three months ago.
Despite repeated pleas from her husband’s family urging her to return, she insisted that they were unaware of the suffering she had endured.
In his defense, Felix admitted to his wife’s accusations but pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage, expressing his love for her.
“I know I have a high sexual urge, but I am ready to change,” he said. “I took my uncles and friends to her parents’ house to beg her, but she refused to listen and walked out on us.”
Felix requested additional time to reconcile with his wife, promising to address the issues in their marriage.
Presiding over the case, Judge John Dauda adjourned the matter until May 6, instructing both parties to attempt reconciliation and maintain peace in the meantime.
