Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday paid an unscheduled visit to Maiduguri to commiserate with the Nigerian Army and the Borno State Government following a recent terrorist attack that killed Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and several officers and soldiers.

Shettima, who visited on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the fallen officers as gallant patriots whose sacrifice underscores the heavy price of securing the nation.

In a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima paid tribute to the slain personnel, assuring that their courage and dedication would never be forgotten.

Addressing troops and government officials during the visit, the Vice President said the soldiers died defending the nation and its people, noting that their bravery serves as a reminder that peace and security often come at a high cost.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering support for the military in its ongoing fight against insurgency and other security challenges, stressing the administration’s commitment to restoring lasting peace across the country.

Shettima also conveyed President Tinubu’s directive to security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the attack, vowing that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

He declared that criminals would have no hiding place under the current administration.
