The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man, Akpan Godwin, for allegedly having 1,100 rounds of live ammunition in Nkpor, near Onitsha.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday in Awka. He said operatives from the Rapid Response Squad in Akwuzu apprehended the suspect on Friday following credible intelligence.
During interrogation, Godwin reportedly confessed to engaging in the illegal sale of ammunition and named other individuals involved in the operation.
Ikenga added that a manhunt is underway to track down the suspect’s accomplices and assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
