Several terrorists have been killed following precision airstrikes carried out by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest, as part of ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North-East.

The operation, conducted under sustained military pressure on insurgent groups, targeted fortified hideouts and logistics hubs believed to be occupied by terrorist fighters. According to NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were based on credible intelligence supported by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Ejodame said NAF air assets deployed precision-guided munitions to destroy the identified structures, neutralising multiple fighters and dismantling key logistics facilities. He added that subsequent battle damage assessments confirmed the success of the mission, noting that the sustained air campaign continues to weaken terrorist networks and disrupt their operations.

“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving them increasingly exposed and forcing desperate and reactive actions,” the statement said.

Reacting to the development, the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, commended personnel involved in the operation and reiterated the force’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven airstrikes until all тerrorist elements are neutralised.

He assured that the NAF would continue to prioritise the safety of civilians while strictly adhering to established rules of engagement.

The latest strike comes months after similar coordinated operations in parts of Borno State, including Azir and Musarram, where over 40 теrrorists were reportedly killed. In one such operation in January, NAF aircraft engaged suspected fighters assembling on canoes in the Tumbuns area, disrupting planned attacks along the Baga and Fish Dam axis.

NAF said all operations were carried out under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, with post-strike feedback from ground troops and local sources indicating a significant reduction in terrorist activities and a gradual return of calm in affected communities.
