Veteran Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his wife, Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, have welcomed a baby boy.
Osawaru announced the birth on her Facebook page on Sunday, expressing joy over the arrival of their child. “Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Idibia. We joyfully welcome our bouncy baby boy into the world. May this precious little one bring endless laughter, happiness, and blessings to our beautiful family,” she wrote. “With love, strength, and unforgettable moments as we begin this wonderful new chapter. Welcome, baby boy Idibia.”
The birth marks the latest development in a relationship that has remained in the public eye since early 2025, when the couple first appeared together publicly. Their traditional wedding followed in July in Benin City.
Their wedding came six months after 2Baba announced the end of his marriage to actress Annie Macaulay, concluding a two-decade relationship that had been a major part of Nigeria’s entertainment landscape. The former couple met in 1999, had their first child in 2008, got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and held a lavish Dubai wedding in 2013. They renewed their vows in 2022 but eventually separated, with Annie confirming the split at the 17th Headies Awards on April 28.
Amid the transition, 2Baba proposed to Natasha on Valentine’s Eve, shortly before their relationship became public. Their union drew further attention in April when Osawaru visited 2Baba’s mother following a viral video in which the singer’s mother emotionally urged her to remove her beads, sparking widespread discussion before later giving the couple her blessing.
Addressing public scrutiny in an appearance on the 234 Mzansi podcast, 2Baba said no couple should be forced to remain in a failing marriage. He described Annie as an “amazing” woman and clarified that his new relationship was not responsible for their separation.
Despite early controversies, the couple continued to present a united front. In September, Osawaru marked 2Baba’s 50th birthday with a heartfelt tribute, praising him as the love of her life and expressing gratitude for his role in her happiness.
The arrival of their baby boy has since sparked an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fans and well-wishers across social media, marking a celebratory milestone for the couple.
