Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, running mate to Peter Obi on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket, has joined TikTok as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general election.
The former Kano State governor announced his arrival on the social media platform in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, inviting Nigerians to follow his account for updates, personal content and information about his activities.
“I am on TikTok! I encourage you all to follow me there for authentic information, the latest updates, and exclusive contents directly related to my daily life,” Kwankwaso wrote, adding, “Nigeria will be OK. — RMK.”
In a video accompanying the announcement, Kwankwaso welcomed TikTok users and urged them to follow his account, share his videos and activate notifications to receive updates.
“Hello TikTokers, welcome to our TikTok account. Turn on your notifications, follow us, share our video, thank you, and God bless you,” he said.
His move to TikTok comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with candidates and parties increasingly using social media to communicate with supporters and reach new audiences.
Kwankwaso and Obi joined the NDC in May after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following consultations over their political future and the party’s zoning arrangement.
Obi was subsequently ratified as the party’s presidential candidate at its national convention on May 30, with Kwankwaso selected as his running mate.
The alliance brings together Obi’s support base and Kwankwaso’s Kwankwasiyya political movement, which has a strong following in Kano State and other parts of northern Nigeria.
As part of its preparations for the election, the NDC recently unveiled its National Campaign Council to coordinate nationwide mobilisation and campaign activities.
The party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, was named chairman of the council, while Obi was appointed co-chairman. Kwankwaso was named co-vice-chairman, with Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim appointed director-general.
Kwankwaso’s entry into TikTok adds another platform to his social media presence as the NDC ticket prepares to take its campaign to voters ahead of the 2027 polls.
