Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued four kidnapped victims during separate intelligence-led operations in Zamfara and Kebbi states.
The military said the victims were rescued on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, as troops intensified efforts to tackle terrorism and kidnapping across the North-West.
In Zamfara State, the troops rescued Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49, following a response to a reported terrorist incident on farmland across a river in Binoni Marafa, Maru Local Government Area.
The Army said the operation followed reports of the incident, prompting troops to move in and secure the victims’ freedom.
In a separate operation in Kebbi State, troops rescued two other victims, identified as Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41.
According to the military, the operation was launched after troops received reports of suspected terrorists moving with kidnapped victims from Dupindu Village in Kanya District, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.
The victims were rescued between Bena and Sawade and subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu.
The military said troops had continued to intensify patrols and surveillance across affected communities to strengthen security, maintain control of operational areas and prevent criminal groups from operating freely.
It added that the successful operations underscored Operation Fansan Yamma’s sustained efforts to rescue abducted persons, disrupt terrorist activities and restore peace across Zamfara and Kebbi states.
