No fewer than six people have been confirmed dead following a fatal head-on collision involving a trailer and a Canter truck along the Potiskum–Damaturu highway in Yobe State on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the crash occurred after the Canter truck allegedly drove against the flow of traffic and collided with an oncoming trailer. According to one witness, the truck was in the wrong lane at the time of the impact.

Four occupants of the trailer were reportedly trapped in the wreckage and were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining two victims were occupants of the Canter truck. Two other persons survived the accident and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the accident involved a trailer and a Canter truck along the Potiskum–Damaturu highway.

He stated that six people lost their lives in the crash, while two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. Abdulkarim added that investigations had commenced to determine the exact cause of the accident, urging motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and drive with caution.
