The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two suspected drug kingpins, Victor Nwosa and Felix Chika Obiegbu, after intercepting consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine from their Lagos homes.

The arrests, announced in a statement on Sunday, September 28, 2025, by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on their criminal networks.

Nwosa, 64, who posed as a textile merchant, was arrested on September 17 at his residence in Okota, where operatives recovered 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine. Obiegbu, 49, who presented himself as a wine distributor, was picked up earlier on September 11 in Surulere, with 2.902 kilograms of methamphetamine seized from his home.

According to the agency, both men were caught preparing their consignments for export to Europe and beyond.

The NDLEA also disclosed that attempts to supply illicit drugs to terrorists and bandits were thwarted in separate operations. In Borno State, 26-year-old Baba Kaka Ibrahim was arrested on September 27 at Njimtilo village with 39,380 pills of tramadol and Exol-5 hidden in the engine compartment of a Mercedes-Benz GLK. On the same day, operatives in Yobe State intercepted Halima Adamu along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road with 39 parcels of Colorado weighing 1.4 kilograms concealed in her bag. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of another woman, Habiba Muhammad, in Maiduguri.

Several other arrests and seizures were recorded across the country: in Kano, two suspects were caught with 30,030 tramadol pills; in Bayelsa, three men were arrested with 12kg of skunk and 50 cartridges; in Ekiti, an ex-convict was found with 32kg of skunk and tramadol; in Kaduna, a suspect was caught with over 262kg of skunk; and along the Gombe/Kaduna axis, two men were arrested over methamphetamine trafficking.

In Lagos and Abuja, more than 85,000 opioid pills were seized in Apapa, while another suspect was caught with 2.1kg of Colorado along the Abaji-Gwagwalada expressway.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, NDLEA operatives destroyed 24,146 kilograms of cannabis cultivated on vast forest lands during three operations between September 23 and 26. Officers uprooted and destroyed thousands of kilograms of cannabis in Uromi and Ogu forests, and intercepted a truck along the Wareke-Auchi road carrying 82 bags of skunk weighing 1,025 kilograms, leading to two arrests.
