Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of Segun Ogunwuyi from the position.
Makinde also appointed Mrs Aderonke Adedayo, his Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, as the Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, 2026, addressed to the governor, stating that his decision took effect immediately.
In the letter, the former Chief of Staff expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in the administration as an honour.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he said.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, also expressed satisfaction with his contributions to the government and confidence in the state’s continued progress.
His resignation comes amid the departure of several political appointees from the Makinde administration over the past two months.
Meanwhile, his successor, Akinwole, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission before his latest appointment.
Adedayo, on her part, will retain her position as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies while taking on the additional responsibility of heading the Due Process Office.
In announcing the appointments, Makinde congratulated the two appointees and charged them to demonstrate loyalty, commitment and dedication in discharging their responsibilities.
The governor expressed confidence in their ability to serve the state effectively and urged them to remain focused on the responsibilities entrusted to them.
Ogunwuyi, in his resignation letter, reaffirmed his loyalty to Oyo State and Nigeria, while expressing appreciation to Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
