Photo: Delta Pastor Marries Secretary – Photo grab from wedding video

Dr. Alfred Jesudovie, a well-known pastor and founder of Jubilee Christian Mission (JCM) in Delta State, has stirred controversy after reportedly ending his marriage of over two decades and marrying his former secretary, Gift — a divorcee and mother of two.

A video of the elaborate traditional wedding ceremony recently went viral on social media, including Facebook, showing the newlyweds dancing to traditional music at an undisclosed location in Delta State. The footage surprised many, particularly members of Jesudovie’s congregation, and has generated heated discussion both within religious circles and the wider community.

Sources close to the pastor confirmed to Naija Daily News that the traditional wedding took place on Thursday, June 19. The viral video showed the JCM Founder showering his new bride with crisp dollar notes.

Church members said Gift served in various capacities in the church, including as secretary and legal adviser.

Investigations suggest the marriage marks the end of a tumultuous relationship between Pastor Jesudovie and his former wife, Tricia. Reports from insiders point to years of mutual allegations of infidelity and tension, including rumored assassination attempts and disputes over property, all of which led to a complete breakdown of trust between the pair.

Church insiders revealed that the estranged couple had become visibly distant in recent years, often sitting apart during services. Their strained relationship eventually impacted the unity of the church itself.

According to one source close to the pastor, Jesudovie had been living “in bondage” in his own home, alleging emotional torment and ridicule from his former wife, who reportedly referred to him using the derogatory term “woman wrapper” — suggesting he lacked assertiveness.

During the height of the crisis, concerns grew over the pastor’s mental health, with some members fearing he was on the brink of a breakdown due to the pressures he faced at home.

Multiple sources described Tricia Jesudovie as domineering, claiming she sought control not just over the household but also over church operations. Her management style reportedly extended to family members, including her younger brother, Pastor Mathew Dogho, who once led the Ekpan branch of JCM.

Tricia allegedly pushed Dogho out of the church due to his growing influence, prompting him to establish his own ministry — Daily Miracle Church (DMC). His departure reportedly led to a mass exodus of members from JCM, deepening the internal crisis.

While allegations of attempted assassination and extramarital affairs have circulated, these claims remain unverified. However, sources hinted that jealousy and romantic entanglements may have led to physical altercations within the church community.

The drama reached a head with the release of the wedding video showing Pastor Jesudovie and Gift celebrating their union. This fueled speculation that the relationship between the pastor and his secretary may have begun while he was still married.

“Given his position as a pastor, one would have expected him to seek reconciliation or spiritual guidance rather than rushing into another marriage,” one critic commented. “How did their courtship escalate to marriage so quickly if there wasn’t something going on before?”

Gift herself reportedly left her previous marriage under controversial circumstances, with some sources alleging she played a role in the collapse of Jesudovie’s first marriage.

As reactions continue to pour in, the story remains a hot topic in Delta State’s religious and social spheres, with many questioning the conduct of those at the helm of spiritual leadership.
