President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors to various Nigerian missions abroad, months after their nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December.
Among the notable postings is former presidential spokesperson Reno Omokri, who has been assigned as Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, while former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode will serve as ambassador to Germany.
Also on the list is former military administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, who has been posted to the Philippines. Former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, was named non-career ambassador to Spain, while former governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, will represent Nigeria in Greece.
Former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau has been deployed to China, while Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu will serve in Israel. Paul Adikwu has been posted to Vatican City, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has been appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The nominees were earlier transmitted to the Nigerian Senate by President Tinubu in 2025 and were confirmed before the end of the legislative year.
