Ambassador Umaru Damagum has been unanimously confirmed as the substantive National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The endorsement came on Saturday during the 2025 Elective National Convention of the party, held at the main bowl of the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, where over 3,000 delegates gathered to decide key leadership positions.
The motion for Damagum’s confirmation was moved by the Chairman of the PDP Edo State chapter, Hon. Tony Abineri, who declared that the ratification was in line with Section 32 of the party’s constitution as amended. The motion was seconded by Edward Marshal.
“I move the motion for the ratification of Ambassador Umaru Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the party. This is in accordance with Section 32 of the Constitution of the PDP as amended,” Abineri said.
With no objection from delegates, the motion was adopted, cementing Damagum’s position as the party’s national leader.
