The Kano Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 27-year-old man, Umar Adamu-Umar, with 9 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, popularly known as Colorado, valued at over N10 million.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday in Kano. He said the suspect, a resident of Fagge Local Government Area, was intercepted on August 6 along the Zaria–Kano Road by operatives attached to the Kiru Area Command.

According to the statement, Adamu-Umar was transporting 19 parcels of the illicit drug from Lagos to Kano and had been under surveillance before his arrest.”

The suspect confessed to his involvement in the illegal drug trade,” Muhammad-Maigatari stated, adding that the seizure delivered a significant financial blow to the trafficking network and disrupted its operations.

He emphasized that removing such a large quantity of drugs from circulation helps safeguard communities from the social and economic impact of narcotics.

The command also reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying patrols and intelligence-led operations under the leadership of Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad to combat drug trafficking in the state.
