Detectives from the Ilasan Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five individuals connected to a car-snatching incident, along with a sixth suspect who purchased the stolen vehicle.

The incident occurred on August 1, 2025, when a taxi driver reported being robbed at gunpoint by three men who had hired his services along Platinum Way, Jakande, Lekki. The suspects made away with his black Toyota Corolla, leaving him stranded.

Following an investigation, police arrested the following suspects: Favour Sunday (25), Ikot Moses (28), Dickson Ighobue Harrison (35), Daniel Jonathan (26), and Joshua Adedamola (27).

The stolen vehicle was later traced to Wasiu Arinola (40), who allegedly bought it for N500,000, dismantled it, and sold the parts. He was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a separate incident, detectives from the Alausa Division apprehended a car wash attendant in Sagamu who attempted to abscond with a customer’s vehicle. He was arrested with the stolen car in his possession.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, reassured residents and visitors of the Command’s ongoing commitment to safety and security. He stated that efforts are underway to recover the firearm used in the robbery, trace additional vehicles sold by the syndicate, and ensure all suspects are prosecuted.

The police also urged members of the public to provide relevant information to support ongoing investigations.
