    By Oghenekevwe Kofi

After an intense and exhilarating journey spanning multiple continents, Nigerian traveller Alma Asinobi has finally arrived in Sydney, Australia, marking the completion of her ambitious attempt to visit all seven continents in record time. Her challenge, inspired by the Guinness World Record requirements, involved not only setting foot on each continent but also capturing a photo at a historic site in each location while ensuring she departed from the same airport she arrived at.

Her adventure began on March 20, 2025, at 10:04 PM WAT, when she touched down on St. George Island, Antarctica, officially starting the clock. From there, she swiftly made her way to Punta Arenas, Chile, before flying to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, successfully covering South America and North America in just over 20 hours.

However, the journey was far from smooth. Flight cancellations disrupted her original route to Paris, forcing her to reroute through Madrid, Spain, to check off Europe. Delays in the Dominican Republic further complicated her schedule, causing her to miss a flight to Casablanca and requiring an alternative plan to reach Cairo, Egypt, for her African leg. Despite these setbacks, she persevered and moved on to Dubai, UAE, representing Asia, before heading toward her final challenge—Oceania.

Getting to Australia proved to be the most difficult part of the journey. At the last minute, Alma was denied boarding on her flight to Perth due to visa complications. She was placed on standby until boarding closed and had to make a quick decision when the gate agent offered her an alternative: Brisbane or Sydney. Opting for Sydney—a city she had always wanted to visit—she pushed forward despite exhaustion and uncertainty.

After 71 hours, 26 minutes, and 25 seconds of near-continuous travel—navigating flight changes, visa issues, and physical fatigue—Alma finally touched down in Sydney, Australia, on March 23, 2025, at 9:30 PM WAT, bringing her journey to a victorious close.

Initially aiming to complete the challenge in under 70 hours, she had to adjust her target when an American traveller broke the existing world record just a week prior, lowering it to 64 hours. Determined to push boundaries, Alma had hoped to finish in 60 hours, but unexpected delays stretched the journey beyond her revised goal.

Her adventure, tracked by thousands across social media under the hashtag #7in60, has been a testament to determination, resilience, and the spirit of exploration. Despite falling short of her intended target, Alma has accomplished an extraordinary feat—covering seven continents in just over 71 hours—a journey that will be remembered for its challenges, triumphs, and unwavering persistence.
