The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, for allegedly having human parts suspected to have been exhumed from a grave for ritual purposes in Igbesa.
The suspect was reportedly intercepted at Ido Itekun Village with a nylon bag containing a fresh human head, two human palms, and other body parts.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrest was made in the early hours of April 17, 2026, during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, Solotan Owolabi.
Babaseyi disclosed in a statement issued in Abeokuta that operatives of the Igbesa Division, under the supervision of the Area Commander, ACP Folashade Tanaruno, apprehended the suspect for unlawful possession of human parts and suspected ritual activities.
He added that the instrument allegedly used in committing the act had been recovered, while the scene of the incident was visited and documented by investigators.
The police spokesperson further stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
