The atmosphere at GCAPPA, Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki LGA, was one of excitement and gratitude on Saturday, 31st May 2025, as the community welcomed several high-profile visitors who came to inspect the ongoing road-paving project.

In attendance were Hon. Bayo Balogun, member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency, and Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa (JAJA), Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area. They were joined by Hon. Idowu Eletu, as well as the Baale of Iraboko, along with a sizeable delegation from the Ibeju-Lekki Community Development Committee (CDC), and leaders and members of the Central and Zonal Community Development Associations (CDAs).

The guests were visibly impressed by the remarkable progress of the road project, especially considering that the initiative has been self-funded through levies contributed by residents of the estate.

In a show of encouragement and support, Hon. Bayo Balogun pledged to donate 10 units of solar-powered street lamps to enhance road illumination. Similarly, Hon. Olowa promised to provide 1,000 square meters of interlocking stones, sourced from HFP, to support the continuation of the project.

The Baale of Iraboko pledged 500 vibrated blocks to aid the construction of the drainage system. Hon. Idowu Eletu, in a magnanimous gesture, made an on-the-spot cash donation of ₦100,000 towards the road project, drawing applause and excitement from the crowd.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of GCAPPA, Mr. Kevin Eze, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the guests for their goodwill and generous contributions. He assured them that the estate remains committed to playing its part in supporting government initiatives, stressing that GCAPPA will continue to collaborate in its own way to ensure the overall betterment of the community.

“We are deeply grateful for your support. Your visit and contributions mean a lot to us, and we will keep doing our part to move this community forward,” Mr. Eze said.

The event was well-attended by members of the estate, including a vibrant contingent of female residents who serenaded the guests with melodious songs, adding a festive and communal touch to the occasion.

The visit and the promises of support have further energized the GCAPPA community, which remains committed to the successful completion of the road project and other developmental efforts through unity, self-help, and collective action.
