The Presiding Justice, S .M. Shu’aibu, summarily tried and sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charge. He held that the Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Babale, proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and consequently sentenced the defendant to seven years without an option of fine. The kidnappers of some six travellers in the Delta State axis of the Benin-Warri Highway have demanded N10m ransom to free them. The hapless travellers were travelling in a Toyota Sienna van when they were seized by gun-totting men last Friday. Reports have now emerged that the criminals have contacted the families of the victims with a ransom note of N10,000,000 to secure their release. “The kidnappers seized the vehicle and drove the driver and his passengers into the bush,” a witness said.
