Gunmen believed to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), attacked a military checkpoint in Abia State on Wednesday morning. The attack, which occurred at the checkpoint near the Carpenter Shed, Ekenobizi, Umuopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area, led to the deaths of two soldiers. The Head of South Africa Football Association, Mr Daniel Jordan has been charged with fraud and theft. Jordan, a former lecturer and politician is accused of using $72,000 of the FA’s fund for his personal affairs, including hiring PR and security firms. Jordan, who is credited with earning South Africa the hosting right for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, was an anti-apartheid crusader. His arrest was sequent to a raid in SAFA offices in March. Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of all revenue collections in the state especially in motor parks until further notice. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, on Wednesday in Benin. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it has generated N5.7 trillion in revenue as of Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Dr Jide Idris, the agency’s Director General disclosed this in Abuja while giving an update on the Lassa fever and meningitis outbreaks. Academic and other activities have been disrupted at the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State following the killing of two students by suspected armed robbers inside the institution’s campus on Sunday night.
