Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) has urged Nigerian companies to strategically position themselves to fully capitalize on the expanding opportunities in upcoming offshore and shallow water oil and gas projects.
Mr. Ronald Adams, Managing Director of SNEPCo, shared this during the 5th Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) held on Thursday.
Adams highlighted significant projects like Bonga Southwest Aparo, Bonga North, and the Bonga Main Life Extension as prime opportunities for Nigerian businesses to enhance their capabilities and deepen their participation.
“Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) says Nigerian companies have a lot to benefit if they are prepared to take advantage of more opportunities in its offshore and shallow water oil and gas projects.
“Speaking at the 5th Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, SNEPCo MD, Ronald Adams said projects such as Bonga Southwest Aparo, Bonga North, and Bonga Main Life extension could grow Nigerian businesses and improve their expertise if they applied themselves seriously to executing higher value contracts,” the source read in part.
Adams highlighted that SNEPCo was a pioneer in Nigeria’s deepwater oil exploration through the Bonga development and has since been instrumental in enhancing the capacity of the local industry.
He stressed that Nigerian companies have the potential to grow in critical sectors such as logistics, drilling, and the fabrication of essential equipment like subsea systems, mooring units, and gas processing plants.
Adams explained that since production commenced at the Bonga field in 2005, SNEPCo has collaborated closely with Nigerian contractors to develop systems and nurture a skilled workforce capable of executing projects safely, on schedule, and within budget, both domestically and across West Africa.
He added that this sustained partnership has empowered local firms to assume key responsibilities in managing the Bonga Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, which marked a significant achievement by producing its one-billionth barrel of oil on February 3, 2023.
