Why be on TikTok just to scroll, scroll, when you can use the time to earn good money? Once known solely for its viral dances and short-form entertainment, TikTok transformed into a multimillion-dollar industry and a powerful money-making platform. From content creators to small businesses, the app offers a wide range of opportunities to earn real income—if you know how to use it strategically.

Here is how to flip the button and turn the app from a source of entertainment by monetising your presence on TikTok in 2025.

    1. Build a niche audience

Before monetising, focus on growing a loyal and targeted following. Choose a specific niche—such as beauty, fitness, comedy, tech, or travel—and consistently post engaging, high-quality content.

    TikTok’s algorithm favours creators who:

    • Post frequently (1–3 times per day)
    • Use trending sounds and hashtags
    • Jump on viral challenges
    • Engage with followers via comments and DMs
    • Collaborate with other creators in their niche

Tip: Audience trust is your most valuable currency. Don’t chase trends blindly—create content that aligns with your brand and resonates with your target viewers.

    2. TikTok Creator Fund

If you’ve hit 10,000 followers and generated at least 100,000 video views over the past 30 days, you may be eligible for the TikTok Creator Fund. This programme pays creators based on their video performance.

Pros: Passive income from content you’re already creating
Cons: Payouts are generally modest, just a few cents per thousand views

    3. Live gifts and TikTok coins

Creators with at least 1,000 followers and aged 18+ can go live on TikTok. During live sessions, viewers can send virtual gifts (bought with TikTok Coins), which can be converted into real-world money.

Pro tip: Use your lives for interactive content like Q&AS, behind-the-scenes moments, or live tutorials to boost viewer engagement and maximise earnings.

    4. Brands’ partnership and create sponsored content

With a growing audience, you become an attractive partner for brands looking to reach your followers. Sponsored posts, product placements, and shoutouts are all lucrative options.

You can connect with brands via:

    • TikTok Creator Marketplace
    • Aspire
    • Influencer.co
    • Collabstr

Earnings vary widely, but creators with 50,000+ followers can charge from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per post, depending on engagement and niche relevance.

    5. Promote products using affiliate marketing

TikTok now allows affiliate links in bios and some in-video product tagging. This opens the door for affiliate marketing, where you earn a commission for every sale driven through your unique link.

Use tools like Linktree, Beacons, or Koji to house multiple affiliate links in your bio. Popular niches for affiliate success include: Tech gadgets, Skincare and beauty, Fitness gear, Online courses and software

    6. Monetise and sell your products/services

Many creators use TikTok as a sales funnel to promote their own offerings. This can include:

    • Physical products: apparel, artwork, handmade crafts
    • Digital products: eBooks, online courses, Lightroom presets
    • Services: coaching, consulting, design, or freelance work

Use Shopify or connect to TikTok Shop (if available in your region) to sell directly within the platform.

    7. TikTok shop and the affiliate program

TikTok’s e-commerce feature, TikTok Shop, allows creators to sell products or promote others’ items in exchange for affiliate commissions.

Two ways to profit: Sell your products through the TikTok Shop platform and promote affiliate products via the TikTok Affiliate Program

This monetisation model has surged in popularity in 2025, especially in product-focused niches like fashion, gadgets, and home decor.

      8. Subscriptions or exclusive content

If you’ve built a dedicated fanbase, consider launching premium, exclusive offerings:

      • Patreon memberships
      • Private Discord groups
      • Behind-the-scenes videos
      • Paid webinars or courses

While TikTok doesn’t directly host these services, you can promote them within your content and link to them in your bio.

In conclusion, making money on TikTok is more accessible than ever, but it requires commitment, strategy, and a strong connection with your audience. The most successful creators diversify their income streams, consistently provide value, and treat their TikTok presence like a business.

With the right approach, TikTok can be more than just a platform for entertainment—it can be a gateway to full-time income.
