An explosion occurred on Friday at a CCTV equipment store on Kodesho Street, near Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, leaving five people injured.

In response, operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the Lagos State Police Command promptly cordoned off the area, including nearby buildings, to ensure public safety.

Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, stating that both Mobile Police and regular patrol teams had been dispatched to the scene. EOD experts also conducted a comprehensive sweep of the area to secure it and launch an investigation into the cause of the blast.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Owohunwa Olaleye visited the site and assured the public that the situation was under control. He encouraged residents to stay calm as investigations continue to determine the cause of the explosion.

“The explosion site and surrounding areas have been secured and declared safe,” he said.

The five injured individuals, who were either in or near the affected store at the time, were rescued and taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment..
