The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited have donated medical equipment to the Benjamin Olowojebutu Foundation to support free surgeries and dental procedures for thousands of Nigerians.

The donation will facilitate 5,000 surgeries for fibroid and hernia patients, as well as dental treatments for another 5,000 individuals across underserved communities in the South-West, North-Central, and South-South regions.

Speaking on the initiative, SNEPCo Managing Director Ronald Adams described the partnership with NNPCL and BOF as part of the company’s social investment strategy to improve lives across Nigeria.

Represented by SNEPCo’s Health Manager and Transformation, Dr. Ajike Oladoyin, Adams reaffirmed the company’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality, particularly in regions with limited medical services.

Similarly, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, Oluwaseyi Omotowa, represented by Deputy External Relations Manager Edith Lawson, emphasized NNPCL’s dedication to corporate social responsibility.

“This donation is a testament to our commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in Nigeria,” Omotowa stated.

“It aligns with our broader objective of fostering sustainable development and empowering communities. We recognize the challenges faced by healthcare providers, and through this contribution, we hope to alleviate some of these burdens while enabling more efficient and effective care.”

The head of BOF, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that it would be instrumental in upcoming medical outreaches in Kwara, Ekiti, Ebonyi, and Bayelsa states.

He highlighted the broader impact of NNPC-SNEPCo’s social investments, which include support for internally displaced persons in North-East Nigeria, reconstruction of hospital wards and schools, scholarships at various educational levels, and donations of cancer treatment equipment.

Additionally, Olowojebutu noted that over 6,000 people benefitted from an eye care outreach under the NNPC-SNEPCo Vision First initiative in Bariga Local Government Area of Lagos in August 2023. The initiative also facilitated donations of medical equipment to health centers and charity homes in Badagry (Lagos State) and Ogu Town (Yenagoa, Bayelsa State).
