American preacher and motivational speaker, Thomas Dexter (TD) Jakes, has reportedly suffered a health scare, believed to be a stroke.
A video of the pastor of the non-denominational church Potters House in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, appeared to show the influential pastor jerking and shaking involuntarily during a sermon at his mega-church in Dallas.
The disturbing video led to speculations that the world-renowned preacher suffered what was believed to be a stroke.
The 67-year-old American pastor’s Potter’s House is an 8,000-capacity arena, where he reportedly collapsed and needed medical attention on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the church has now announced that he is in the hands of health professionals while thanking supporters for the outpour of love.
A statement by the church, obtained by Naija Daily News said, “During today’s service, Bishop TD Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message.
“Bishop Takes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potters House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.’ the statement added.
Meanwhile, in one slide of the video, worried church members were seen crowding around the pastor with anxiety and concern etched on their faces.
The incident led to an abrupt stop of the livestream of the sermon and was replaced by an off-camera voice telling those in attendance and those watching from home to ‘begin to pray.’
One news report said the pastor suffered what was believed to be a partial stroke during his sermon.
