
Tragedy struck in Isolo, Lagos State, on Thursday night when a 25-year-old man, Chibunnma Chimelie, allegedly stabbed his 68-year-old father to death.
The Lagos Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident on Friday, October 4, 2024, said Chimelie attacked and killed his father at about 10.00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3.
The suspect’s brother reported the incident to the Aswani Police Divisional Station after receiving a distressing phone call from a neighbour, who told him that his father was having a serious altercation with the suspect, who lived with their father.
Upon arriving at his father’s residence, the complainant found his father’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood. Police officers quickly responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect.
Hundeyin said police investigators recovered a blood-stained knife near the body and took photographs of the scene. The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Isolo, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
The body has been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary in Isolo.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police spokesperson said.
