Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, appeared at the National Assembly on Monday, accompanied by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
He attended a House of Representatives Joint Committee session investigating serious corruption allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS).
Present at the hearing were representatives from the EFCC, the Correctional Services, and Averosoghene Omuvwie, the lawyer representing Nigerian socialite Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
Although Bobrisky was absent from the proceedings, his lawyer was present in the chamber.
When asked to speak, VeryDarkMan refrained from making any statements, expressing his disappointment at Bobrisky’s absence.
“Today, I will not say anything because an invitation was extended to both me and Bobrisky. Since he is not here, I don’t see why I should speak. My lawyer will do that,” he said.

The session was prompted by an audio clip posted by VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky allegedly confessed to bribing EFCC officials with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
The audio also claimed Bobrisky never served time in prison, as was reported but stayed in an apartment during his supposed six-month jail sentence for Naira abuse.
Bobrisky denied the allegations and threatened legal action.
However, the incident generated public outcry over possible corruption in the NCoS and other security agencies across the country, with many revelations coming up about how inmates at the nation’s correctional centres are going about their businesses unhindered while serving jail terms.
As a result of these claims and counterclaims, the House of Representatives launched a probe into the matter, involving both the EFCC and NCoS.
