The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to resolve its lingering leadership crisis instead of accusing the ruling party and the judiciary of influencing recent court decisions affecting its leadership.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the position known in a statement, insisting that the ruling party had no involvement in the legal dispute that culminated in the removal of the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Morka said the crisis was an internal matter arising from a legal challenge instituted by some national officers of the ADC, who accused Mark and his associates of taking control of the party in violation of its constitution, internal democratic procedures, and the rule of law.

He maintained that the APC should not be held responsible for disagreements within the opposition party, urging the ADC leadership to address the issues that triggered the court action.

According to him, the judgment reflects the independence of the judiciary and should not be interpreted as evidence of political interference simply because it did not favour the interests of the affected faction.

The APC spokesman advised the ADC to exercise its constitutional right of appeal if it disagreed with the court’s decision, rather than resorting to public accusations against the ruling party and judicial institutions.

Morka also accused the opposition party of displaying what he described as selective respect for judicial decisions, alleging that the ADC applauds the judiciary when rulings favour its position but questions its integrity when judgments go against its interests.

He argued that such conduct undermines public confidence in democratic institutions and the judicial process.

The APC spokesperson further dismissed suggestions that the Tinubu administration was working against opposition parties, maintaining that the government remained committed to the rule of law, the protection of democratic institutions, and the delivery of good governance.

He urged the ADC to concentrate on resolving its internal disagreements through established legal and constitutional channels instead of shifting responsibility for its leadership problems to the ruling party.

The leadership dispute has further heightened tensions within the ADC, with the court’s intervention raising fresh questions about the party’s leadership structure and its political future.
