The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly beating his father, Adone Peter, to death following a violent altercation in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.

According to the police, the tragic incident occurred on May 28, 2026, when an argument between the suspect and his 65-year-old father reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the deceased allegedly sustained severe head injuries.

Police said the victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment but was later confirmed dead by attending doctors despite efforts to save his life.

Jimoh stated that the incident has sparked concern among residents of the community.

He explained that the suspect was apprehended after his brother reported the matter at a nearby police station, prompting operatives to launch an investigation that led to Kingsley’s arrest.

“The Ondo State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has arrested a 38-year-old man identified as Nsikak Kingsley for his alleged involvement in the death of his biological father, Adone Peter, aged 65 years,” the statement said.

The police spokesperson added that investigations into the incident are ongoing, while the suspect remains in custody.

The case comes amid growing concerns over incidents of domestic violence. In 2024, the Lagos State Police Command detained a 25-year-old man, Chibunnma Chimelie, for allegedly stabbing his 68-year-old father to death in the Isolo area of the state.
