The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four suspected collaborators of the Lakurawa terror group and recovered arms, ammunition, and illicit drugs in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed that the arrests followed coordinated operations in border communities and the Bagudo Local Government Area.
According to him, operatives of the Kangiwa Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended two suspects, Hamza Aliyu and Aliyu Ahmadu, on February 7, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m. along a border axis. The suspects were allegedly involved in supplying logistics to members of the Lakurawa terrorist group.
Items recovered from them included 31 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. SP Usman said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to aiding and providing logistical support to the group operating along the border areas.
In a related operation, the command’s Special Tactical Team, in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, arrested two additional suspects identified as Sani Bature, popularly known as “Nage,” and Rabiu Bature, in Bagudo LGA.
The operation led to the recovery of an AK-49 rifle, 611 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a locally fabricated, charm-infused bulletproof vest.
Police authorities confirmed that all recovered items are in custody, while investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspects’ alleged criminal network.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Umar Hadeija, reiterated the command’s determination to rid the state of criminal and terrorist elements.
He described the arrests as a testament to the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies.
The police added that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
