The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two female suspects in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, who was reported missing in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, were apprehended on the evening of January 26, 2026, by operatives of the Ozubulu Police Division following what the police described as technologically driven intelligence.

Confirming the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said preliminary investigations had yielded crucial leads in the case.

Ikenga disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to having played a role in the disappearance of the minor and revealed that the girl is currently in Ghana.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has ordered the immediate escalation of the matter to ensure a thorough probe.

According to him, the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for discreet and comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the girl’s relocation and to identify any other persons connected to the incident.

The police spokesperson assured that the command would keep the public informed as investigations continue, adding that further updates would be provided as the case progresses.
