The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man for alleged criminal intimidation, assault and the rape of his eight-year-old biological daughter.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.

According to the statement, the case was reported on December 31, 2025, at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri by one Baffa’ji Muhammed, who alleged that on December 30, at about 6:30 p.m., the suspect, identified as Baffa’ji Abba, lured his daughter, (name withheld), into a bathroom and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her through her vagina and anus multiple times in a single day.

Habib said that upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Alkaleri, CSP Kadiri Danjuma, immediately visited the scene, evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Alkaleri, for urgent medical attention and arrested the suspect.

The police spokesperson revealed that during interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to committing the crime.

He added that the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a discreet and thorough investigation to ensure proper evidence gathering.

Habib said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
