The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a motorcyclist found conveying the corpse of a woman later identified as his wife during a stop-and-search operation in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola disclosed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta, noting that the routine operation helped uncover what is now being treated as a suspected case of murder.

According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received credible intelligence around 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, that a man identified as Godonu Lowe, of Omolende Village via Idogo, was attempting to flee the community with the body of an unknown woman concealed in a sack tied to his motorcycle.

Operatives immediately intercepted the suspect and, upon inspecting the sack, discovered the corpse of an adult female. Police later confirmed the deceased to be his wife. The body reportedly showed signs of violence, including bleeding around the neck, indicating possible foul play. A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered.

Lowe was arrested at the scene, while the victim’s remains were taken to the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo commended the anonymous informant whose tip-off led to the arrest and urged residents to continue sharing credible information to help curb crime in the state.
