Residents of Enugu metropolis will experience a series of scheduled power outages from Wednesday, October 22, to Thursday, October 31, 2025, as MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) carries out maintenance and upgrade works across several parts of the city.

The company announced the development in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, in Enugu. According to the statement, the outages will occur daily between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the 10-day period.

Ezeh explained that the planned interruptions are part of the rehabilitation and reinforcement projects being undertaken by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at its New Haven Station. The maintenance, he said, would be implemented in segments, with different power lines affected on specific days to allow for systematic repairs and upgrades.

MainPower noted that the exercise aims to improve the reliability, safety, and overall quality of electricity supply within the Enugu network. The company urged residents and businesses to make necessary arrangements during the outage period and assured that efforts are being made to minimize disruptions.

According to the schedule, Kingsway Line 1 will be affected on October 22, Emene Industrial Line 1 on October 23, Thinkers Corner Line on October 24, and Trans Ekulu Line on October 25. Others include Kingsway Line 2 and 9th Mile Line on October 26, Emene Industrial Line 2 on October 28, Ugwuogo Line on October 29, and Ituku Ozalla Line on October 31.

The outage will impact several areas served by the affected feeders, including Emene Industrial Layout, Abakpa Nike, Trans Ekulu, Thinkers Corner, 9th Mile, Shoprite, Golf Estate, Zoo Estate, Okpara Avenue, and surrounding communities such as Coal Camp, Asata, Uwani, Ngwo, Ologo Quarters, Golden Royale, Amechi, and Centenary City.

MainPower expressed regret for the inconvenience and appealed for the public’s patience and understanding as it works to enhance power supply infrastructure across the state.
