Emergency responders have pulled out four men alive from the rubble of a three-storey building that collapsed while under construction on Friday night in Yaba, Lagos.
The Acting Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, Mrs. Ibitayo Adenike, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
She said the structure, located at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, gave way around 8:30 p.m., trapping several persons.
“Four men have been rescued and taken to the hospital,” Adenike stated, adding that the number of people still trapped could not be ascertained until the entire building was brought down to ground level.
She noted that search and rescue efforts were ongoing with multiple agencies on site, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force.
