A young man identified as Ifeanyi has been arrested by police in Enerhen Division, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, for allegedly murdering his father, Sunny, and stealing money to fund his girlfriend’s birthday celebration.
According to reports, the incident happened Thursday night at their residence along OilField Road. Ifeanyi allegedly attacked his father while he slept, inflicted severe injuries including cutting off his hands, and stole proceeds from a land sale before fleeing the scene.
Neighbors who heard the victim’s cries rushed him to the hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
The suspect was apprehended Sunday in a hotel, where he was found with two girls after allegedly hosting a birthday party for his girlfriend. He reportedly confessed to the crime, claiming his cult group had ordered him to kill his father.
The deceased’s body has been deposited in the morgue. Efforts to reach Delta State Police PRO, SP Bright Edafe, for confirmation have been unsuccessful.
