The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have arrived in Daura, Katsina State, for final burial rites.
The body was flown into the Katsina airport at approximately 2:00 p.m. aboard a presidential jet from London. President Bola Tinubu was present on the tarmac to receive the late leader’s remains.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and members of Buhari’s family accompanied the body from London, where the former President passed away on Sunday at the age of 82 while receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness at a private clinic.
Following the announcement of his death, President Tinubu directed Vice President Shettima to travel to London and oversee the repatriation of Buhari’s remains.
The late President will be laid to rest according to Islamic rites at his private residence in Daura.
