The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed April 22, 2026, for the hearing of an appeal filed by a factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the party’s lingering leadership crisis.

The appeal, lodged by Ralphs Okey Nwosu Mark, challenges the March 12 judgment of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, which dismissed his earlier appeal against a September 4, 2025, ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In that ruling, Justice Emeka Nwite declined to grant injunctive relief sought in an ex parte application filed by an ADC chieftain, Nafiu Bala Gombe.

A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Mohammed Garba, fixed the hearing date on Tuesday after granting accelerated hearing in the appeal marked SC/CV/180/2026.

The court also directed counsel to the appellant, Jibril Okutepa, to file and serve the appellant’s brief by Wednesday.

It further ordered the respondents to file and serve their briefs within three days of receiving the appellant’s submission, while the appellant is to file a reply, if necessary, within one day of being served with the respondents’ briefs.
