The Edo State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Edo North, following intelligence-led operations linked to a recent abduction case in the area.

The Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the arrests were made through coordinated efforts between police operatives and the Edo State Security Corps.

According to the statement, the breakthrough was recorded under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, as part of ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and violent crimes across the state.

The police explained that one of the suspects was sighted at Jattu Market on May 13, shortly after the release of a kidnap victim identified as Ibrahim Jemila.

Following credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer of Jattu Division on May 15, operatives mobilised alongside members of the Edo State Security Corps to the area, leading to the arrest of the suspects identified as Nura Dahiru, 22; Ibrahim Yakubu, 25; and Abubakar Inusa, 23.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, revealed that two of the suspects were members of the gang responsible for the abduction of Jemila and another victim.

The command reiterated its commitment to sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state, urging residents to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies through its emergency and complaint channels.

The arrests come amid intensified operations by security agencies targeting kidnapping syndicates and other criminal groups operating across Edo State.
