Senator Ned Nwoko has attributed the ongoing tension in his marriage to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels to what he described as her “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”
His reaction followed a viral video that surfaced online showing Regina Daniels visibly distressed and alleging violence in her marriage. In the video, the actress is heard saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a queen. Not again, I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”
The footage, which quickly spread across social media platforms, sparked public concern and prompted an emotional response from a man identified as the actress’s brother, who vowed on Instagram to defend her.
Responding to the allegations on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Senator Nwoko denied ever being violent towards his wife, claiming instead that her erratic behaviour stemmed from substance abuse.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety,” he wrote.
Nwoko alleged that his attempts to help the actress seek professional treatment had been met with resistance. “The truth is, I have set a clear condition for her to accept rehab in Asokoro or outside Nigeria, especially Jordan, where she will not have access to drugs,” he said.
The lawmaker further claimed that Regina had recently exhibited violent behaviour at home, alleging she assaulted three domestic staff and destroyed property. “She is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff in the past 48 hours and destroying cars and windows for no just cause,” he stated.
He also accused two individuals of being linked to his wife’s alleged drug use, naming one “Sammy” as her “main supplier” and another person identified as “Ann.”
“I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence,” the senator added, calling on Regina to continue her rehabilitation.
As of press time, Regina Daniels has yet to publicly respond to the senator’s claims.
