A major fire has broken out at the Bono Energy Terminal along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway near Coconut in the Olodi Apapa area of Lagos State, prompting an emergency response by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS).

The incident, which occurred on Friday, saw firefighters deployed to the scene to contain the raging blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities in the densely industrialised area.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, said emergency responders were actively battling the inferno.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” he said in a brief statement issued to journalists.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, while there is no official information on casualties or the extent of damage as of the time of filing this report.

Emergency responders remain at the scene, and further details are expected as rescue and firefighting operations continue.
