The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 24-year-old man, Liman Muhammad Baba, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, Malam Baba Siti, during a heated argument.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday in Uzum village, located in the Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Mohammed Wakil, the police received a distress call from a resident, prompting Commissioner of Police Auwal Sani Omolori to instruct the Divisional Police Officer in Giade to initiate a swift and discreet investigation.
“Officers visited the scene and found the victim in a pool of blood. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect struck his father on the head with a stick, resulting in his immediate collapse and death,” Wakil stated.
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Giade, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.
Authorities say the suspect was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. An investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is expected to face charges upon its conclusion.
