A 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, has been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command for an alleged failed plot to use his seven-year-old nephew for a money ritual.
The suspect’s plan was derailed when the herbalist, whom he contacted for the rites, snitched on him and alerted the police after he brought the child for the ritual.
The Ekiti State Police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, revealed that the victim, simply identified as Jomiloju, was saved in the nick of time before Fabiyi could execute his heinous plot.
Abutu revealed that Fabiyi lived with his parents and the victim in Ado-Ekiti, but plotted to use his sibling’s son for a get-rich-money ritual.
“He was arrested by our operatives on Friday, 14th February 2025 at about 19:00hrs through a tip-off while he was on the verge of using nephew for money ritual,” he said.
A viral video on social media showed Fabiyi admitting that a local herbalist instructed him to find someone for the ritual. The herbalist allegedly assured him that the victim would not die but would suffer from an ailment.
