Pere Faruk, a 43-year-old man, has been found dead in what is believed to be a case of suicide, shortly after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend with acid during a domestic altercation on Lagos Island.
According to a report by Zagazola Makama, the incident took place at around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at No. 8 Messy Street, Lagos Island. Family sources revealed that Faruk’s younger brother, Pere Jeli, who lives at No. 9 Igbosere Street, was informed of the situation and immediately raised the alarm.
Kemi Bashiru, the woman involved, was promptly taken to Lagos Island General Hospital, where she is currently being treated for severe burns.
Soon after the incident, Faruk was discovered deceased in his room, with a bottle of Sniper insecticide nearby, suggesting a possible suicide.
His body was taken to the hospital before being transferred to a public mortuary for autopsy. Emergency responders were present at the scene to document the incident.
