Following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party’s Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, has called on members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and party stakeholders to remain united and avoid divisive rhetoric or actions.
Dalori appealed on Monday in Abuja during the first NWC meeting held after Ganduje’s departure. He emphasized that political transitions often come with uncertainty, but the party must not allow it to breed disunity.
“To all party members and stakeholders, I urge us to stay united. Political transitions often create uncertainty, but we must not allow it to breed disunity. We must avoid actions and words that divide us and focus on what binds us — our shared belief in the promise of Nigeria and the future of the APC,” Dalori said.
He also revealed plans to unveil a strategic roadmap that will guide the NWC during this transitional period. The plan, he noted, will prioritize party discipline, reconciliation, communication, grassroots mobilization, and stakeholder engagement.
Dalori assumed the role of Acting Chairman by the APC constitution and the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Dr. Ganduje, lauding his leadership and contributions to the party since assuming office in August 2023.
“We are all aware of the significant contributions Dr. Ganduje made during his tenure. He provided our party with experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and a clear sense of direction. On behalf of the entire APC family, I express our heartfelt gratitude to him and wish him full recovery and strength as he focuses on his health,” Dalori said.
Stressing that his appointment is a call to service, not personal triumph, Dalori reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose.
“To my colleagues in the NWC, I thank you for your continued support and loyalty to the party. This is a period for consolidation — not conflict. For maturity — not division. And for vision — not personal ambition,” he added.
He also reiterated the party’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a transformative blueprint already making strides in areas of economic reform, security, and national unity.
Earlier at the meeting, the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, formally presented Ganduje’s resignation letter to the NWC. A motion to accept the resignation was adopted, and by Article 14 of the party’s constitution, Dalori was endorsed as Acting National Chairman pending further decisions by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
“On behalf of the NWC, I present to you Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori as the Acting National Chairman of the party,” Basiru declared.
Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended wishes of a full recovery and strength to Dr. Ganduje as he steps back from active party leadership.
