Tragedy struck in Kano State on Saturday as a bomb explosion claimed the lives of at least five people and left ten others injured.

The explosion occurred in an area of the state yet to be officially disclosed, causing widespread panic among residents. Authorities confirmed that the blast involved an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and a military-grade mortar vehicle.

Confirming the incident, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, stated that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion and whether it was accidental or the result of foul play.

“Our EOD personnel were involved in the incident, and we are working closely with other security agencies to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the explosion,” Commissioner Ibrahim said.

Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the scene, providing medical assistance to the injured and securing the area. The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at various medical facilities across the state.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and vigilant, while security around sensitive areas has been tightened.

The explosion marks one of the deadliest incidents in the state in recent months, raising renewed concerns about public safety and the handling of military-grade explosives in civilian areas.
